Sea Thistle Cottage

Sea Thistle Cottage is on one of the little lanes in the old fisher town part of Nairn. It's semi-detached and was built in the 1800s. It's for two people.

It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's been modernised well but keeps the cottage feel. The walls are thick stone. The stairs are the original winding ones, so they're quite steep and narrow. That's just how it is.

Downstairs is open plan. There's a living area with a TV and an electric fire, and a dining table in the corner. The kitchen is separate. It's small but it has everything you'd need, including a dishwasher. There's a stable door out to the side courtyard. Also on the ground floor is a wet room.

Upstairs is one bedroom with a kingsize bed and its own TV. Next to it is a dressing room with extra hanging space.

You're about a hundred yards from the sea front and the beach. There's a pub and a restaurant about the same distance away. The local shop is a couple of minutes' walk.

The cottage has its own parking space, which is useful here. The courtyard is enclosed, so it's fine for one dog. Bedding and towels are included, and there's a washing machine and WiFi.

For things to do, the beach is right there. The harbour is nice for a wander. You might see dolphins from the shore or on a boat trip. There’s a golf course in the town. Good walking nearby, especially along the coast and in the forest.

Cawdor Castle and Culloden Battlefield are about a 20 minute drive. Inverness is about the same. If you're planning trips, the National Trust for Scotland page for Culloden has good visitor information. For the local area, VisitScotland Highlands is a useful site.
