Pipers Stable is in Fiddington, in Somerset. It's attached to one end of our house on a little private lane. It used to be a cider barn, from the 1600s. We converted it.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's all on one level, more or less, but the layout is upside down. The bedroom and bathroom are on the ground floor. Then you go up a flight of stairs to the main living area. That's open plan, kitchen and sitting room together. There are French doors there that open onto your own patio. It looks out over fields.
It's got underfloor heating, which is nice in the colder months. The beams are original. The stairs are a standard staircase, not too steep.
There's a shop and a pub about a mile away in the village. The Quantock Hills are right on the doorstep for walking. The National Trust Quantock Hills site is useful for routes.
Within half an hour you can get to the coast at Watchet, Minehead, or Porlock. Dunster and its castle are close by too. The West Somerset Railway steam train runs from Bishops Lydeard to Minehead, which is a nice way to see the area without driving. Exmoor National Park is about a 20 minute drive for bigger hills and views. Exmoor National Park has information.
For facilities: it's got a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and parking right outside. The patio has a table and chairs and a barbecue. Bedding and towels are included. It's wheelchair accessible to get in, but there are the stairs inside to the living floor. Sorry, no pets.
