Porter's Lodge is the old porter's cottage at Glyndyfrdwy station. It's a one bedroom place, for two people. You're right on the platform of the Llangollen Railway. You can sit out there with a drink and watch the steam trains go by a few times a day. It's not loud, but you will hear and see them. If you're not into trains, it might not be for you.
It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean, with a wood burner for the evenings. The kitchen is small but it does the job. The bedroom and bathroom are upstairs, and the stairs are quite steep and narrow, just so you know. We allow two well-behaved dogs.
The village is quiet. There's a good pub about half a mile away that does food. The nearest shop is in Carrog, which is about three miles. You're in the Dee Valley here, so it's good for walks straight from the door. You can follow the river or head up the hills.
Llangollen is about a ten minute drive east. You can walk the canal there, or go over the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct. Corwen is ten minutes the other way. For a big day out, Snowdonia is under an hour's drive. The Erddig and Chirk Castle estates are both within half an hour if you like grand houses and gardens.
Facilities: wireless internet, TV, washing machine, bedding and towels are provided. There's parking right outside.
