Ash Cottage is in Oscroft, which is more of a quiet hamlet than a village. It's next door to our house, but it's self-contained and private. There's a small lawned garden out the front with a patio area. It gets the sun in the evening.
The cottage sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place. That means it's comfortable and clean, well equipped, but not luxurious. It's an old cottage.
This is a good area for cycling and walking from the door. There's a golf course about a mile away. People go horse riding locally too.
The nearest shop and a couple of pubs are in Tarvin, about a mile and a half away. Chester is seven miles. You can go for the shopping, the racecourse, or the Roman history. The English Heritage site has details.
For a day out, North Wales is under an hour's drive. The Peak District is about an hour away in the other direction. Both are easy to get to.
In terms of what's there: WiFi works, there's a washing machine, bedding and towels are provided, and you can park right by the cottage. We allow one well-behaved dog.
If you're planning to explore the local area, the National Trust for Cheshire has good information.
