The Barn is in Alvanley, Cheshire. It's a detached, converted barn. We live next door in Clematis Cottage. It sleeps eight people in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms.
It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and well-equipped. It's old, Grade II listed, so the ceilings downstairs are very high and the windows are big. The stairs are a normal staircase, not a wonky cottage one.
The main thing about it is the space. The kitchen and living area is all one big room. Doors open straight out onto the garden. There's a proper lawn and then a bit of a wilder bit with trees that leads to a secret garden. It just looks out over fields.
It's set up for someone who has trouble with stairs. The whole ground floor is accessible. There's a bedroom and bathroom down there, with a walk-in shower. Upstairs, there are three more bedrooms: a main one with its own bathroom, a double, and a bunk room. There's a family bathroom up there too with a bath.
You can walk to the local pub, it's about five minutes. They do good food. The nearest shop is about a mile away in Manley.
For getting out, it's easy. Delamere Forest is about ten minutes by car. You can walk or cycle there too if you want. The Sandstone Trail runs nearby. Cycling from the door is good, we've got a bike rack you can use.
Chester is eight miles away. The zoo is there, and the cathedral. Cheshire Oaks outlet shopping is about twenty minutes drive. If you want a city day, Liverpool and Manchester are both around forty minutes in the car. The train from Helsby gets you there too.
What's here: parking for two cars right outside. Wifi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. The garden is enclosed. No pets, sorry.
