The Old Stables is in Alvanley, which is proper Cheshire countryside. It's a converted stable block, so it's got those oak beams and exposed brick you'd expect. It's a big place, sleeps seven. Four bedrooms and two bathrooms, so it works for a couple of families.
It's got a 5 Star rating. That means it's well finished, comfortable, and everything's in good order. The wood burner is good on cooler nights. The garden is enclosed and looks out over the fields. You can see all the way to the coast on a clear day.
There's a pub about 300 yards down the lane. They do decent food and have real ale. The nearest shop is about a mile away in the village.
You're out in the quiet, but you're not cut off. Chester is about eight miles. You've got the cathedral, the Rows, and the zoo there. For shopping, Cheshire Oaks outlet is only five miles down the road. The Blue Planet Aquarium is right next to it.
If you want to get into a city, both Liverpool and Manchester are about half an hour's drive. Helsby station is just over a mile away if you'd rather get the train.
For getting outside, Delamere Forest is ten minutes by car. It's good for walks, cycling, and they have that Go Ape place. There's a local golf course and you can go windsurfing at nearby spots.
Facilities: it's got what you'd need. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if required. Plenty of parking on site. No pets, sorry.
