Kielder Cottage Spa is our place in Kielder Village. It sleeps six, has three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's rated 4 Star, which is good. You can bring two dogs.
It's a detached cottage, so no one is attached. The garden is enclosed. There's parking for two cars on the drive. We've got a hot tub out there, which is private for you.
The layout is a bit different because it was a stable originally. The main living area and kitchen are on the first floor. That's where you get the best views from the windows, over the fields and forest. The stairs are normal.
It's very quiet here. You'll see red squirrels. At night, the skies are completely dark. It's famous for stargazing. The Kielder Observatory is nearby if you want to go for an event.
You're right on the edge of Kielder Water, which is a huge reservoir. Good for walking, cycling, or fishing if you've got a permit. Kielder Castle is about a ten minute walk away. That's where a lot of the bike trails start from. There's a shop about eight miles off in Falstone, so it's best to bring what you need. There's a pub and restaurant you can walk to, about three quarters of a mile.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, all the bedding. There's a bike store if you bring cycles.
For things to do, you're in the middle of it all. You can walk for miles straight from the door. For a day out, Hadrian's Wall is about an hour's drive. The Northumberland coast, like Bamburgh Castle, is a bit over an hour. If you want official information for planning, the Visit Kielder site is useful, as is the Northumberland National Park site.
