The Liddel Haven is in Saughtree. It's a hamlet, really quiet, just a few houses. You're right on the England-Scotland border here.
It's a two-bedroom cottage, sleeps four. Five star rated. It feels solid and well looked after. There's a wood burner in the living room and another in the dining room. They're nice to have on in the evening.
The main bedroom has a kingsize bed with a specific, quite deep mattress. They've left a note about it being a 'Tranquillity' mattress, which some people really like. The twin room has two singles that can be joined. The mattresses there are different from each other, one firmer than the other. There are electric blankets on the beds for the colder months.
You get a welcome whisky when you arrive. The kitchen has what you need, plus a separate pantry. There's a washing machine and a dishwasher.
Outside, there's a private driveway and an enclosed garden. You can store bikes.
Location wise, it's very rural. You're about a 15 minute drive from Kielder Water. That's where all the activities are: walking, cycling, water sports. The Kielder Water & Forest Park site has all the details. The area is very good for stargazing, as it's a Dark Sky Park.
The local village for a pub or a shop is Newcastleton, about ten minutes away by car. For a bigger supermarket, you'd drive to Hawick, which takes about 25 minutes.
The cottage is all on one level inside, so there are no stairs. There's a slight step at the front door to get in.
