The Liddel Haven is in Saughtree. It's a hamlet, really just a few houses on this little road. It's quiet. You get the feeling of being away from things.
It's a five-star cottage, which means it's been finished to a high standard. It sleeps four, two bedrooms and one bathroom. One king-size room and one twin room that can zip together. The owners have put a lot of thought into the beds, with different mattresses for preference. There are even electric blankets.
You get a whisky on arrival. There's a proper wood burner in the living room and another one in the dining room. The kitchen is well-equipped and there's a separate pantry.
Outside, there's an enclosed garden and parking right there. It's all on one level inside, so the entrance is wheelchair accessible.
The location is good for walking and cycling from the door. You're about a fifteen minute drive from Kielder Water. That's where you can do the water sports or hire bikes. The village of Newcastleton is ten minutes the other way. It's got a couple of pubs, a few places to eat, and some shops.
Hawick is about twenty-five minutes by car for bigger supermarkets and more choice. The rest of the Scottish Borders and Northumberland National Park are on your doorstep for scenery.
Facilities: Washing machine, dishwasher, TV, WiFi included. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Bike storage is available. No pets.
