Catcleugh Bridge View is a bungalow on the edge of Kielder village. It's a single-storey place, which is good if you don't want stairs. The garden is big and has a view of the river and the bridge. You get a clear view of the sky, which matters here.
It sleeps six, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped. The kitchen has a wood burner. There's a large TV in the living room.
You're right in Kielder Forest. It's the largest working forest in England and a National Park. The main thing here is the landscape. It's very quiet, and at night the skies are completely dark. The Kielder Observatory is nearby, but you need to book visits.
The lake is man-made and huge. You can fish, or hire a boat. For walkers, the trails start practically from the door. For mountain bikers, it's a well-known area with routes for different levels. There's a local pub and restaurant about three quarters of a mile away. The nearest shop is in Bellingham, about eight miles.
If you want to drive out, you're about half an hour from the England-Scotland border. Hadrian's Wall is around 45 minutes to the south. The Northumberland coast, like Bamburgh, is over an hour's drive.
Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. The garden is enclosed. Parking is on site. It's wheelchair accessible at the entrance. No pets.
