Aisir Croft

Aisir Croft is a detached cottage in Oldshoremore, up in the northwest Highlands. It's about a 15-minute drive off the North Coast 500 route.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, not luxurious.

The main thing is the view. You look straight out over Oldshoremore Beach and the sea. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have dogs or kids. You can hear the waves.

Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a woodburning stove, which you'll probably need even in summer some evenings. It gets cosy. The kitchen has what you need. There's a washing machine, towels and bedding are included, and there's parking right there.

You can take up to three dogs. The beach is just there for walks. For a bigger, more dramatic walk, Sandwood Bay is about four miles south. It's one of the best beaches in Scotland.

Kinlochbervie is the nearest proper village, about a 15-minute drive. It's a working fishing port, so you can get fresh fish. There's a shop for basics.

If you want to explore, Durness is about 45 minutes north. Smoo Cave is there. Cape Wrath is a trip you can make from there too, weather permitting. Lochinver, to the south, is good for food and has more walks.
