The Old School House is in Oldshoremore, which is up in the north west of the Highlands. It used to be the village school. It's detached, with its own garden all around it. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have a dog.
It sleeps four, but in three bedrooms. There's a main bedroom with a big double bed, a twin room, and a small third room with bunk beds. They're fine for kids, but a bit snug for adults. There's one bathroom.
The main room is the old school room. It's long, with high ceilings and a big Victorian fireplace you can use. The windows are large, so you get a good view of the bay and across to Handa Island. You can see the mountains like Foinavon from the garden seat.
You're right on the coast here. The beaches are exceptional. Oldshoremore beach is just down the road. Sandwood Bay is about a four mile walk from Blairmore car park, over the machair. It's worth it. Polin beach is nearby too.
Kinlochbervie is the nearest proper village, about six miles away. It's a working port. There's a shop, a post office, and a hotel that does meals.
If you like walking or being outside, this is a good spot. You can see seals and otters in the bay. There's pony trekking at Sheigra, and fishing on the lochs or at sea.
The place has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable. It's got a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and a TV. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two dogs. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
For planning, the North West Highlands Geopark site is useful. The Scottish Wildlife Trust page for Handa Island has visitor information if you want to take the boat trip over.
