Bervie Road Cottage

Bervie Road Cottage is on a quiet street in Kinlochbervie. It's a bungalow, so it's all on one level. From the front it doesn't look huge, but inside it is. Honestly, we were surprised by the space.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One of the bedrooms has its own shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

The main living room has a big window looking straight out over the sea loch. You can sit and watch the fishing boats. A door from the hallway leads out to an enclosed garden, which is handy if you have a dog or kids.

Kinlochbervie itself is a working fishing port. It's got a shop for basics and a couple of places to eat. It's really a base for being outside.

The beaches here are the main thing. Oldshoremore is a few miles down a single-track road. It's a huge sweep of white sand. From there you can walk to others like Polin and Sheigra. For Sandwood Bay, you have to park up and walk about three miles in. It's worth it.

If you want to drive, you're right on the NC500 route. You can go north to Cape Wrath or east towards Durness and Smoo Cave. The John Muir Trust looks after the Sandwood Bay area, their site has good information.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed. Parking is on the street outside, but it's never been a problem finding a space.
