River View

River View is in Barr, Ayrshire. It's one cottage in a little row of houses right by the River Stinchar. You get a good view of it from the back garden.

It sleeps seven, across three bedrooms. There's one family bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. The garden is enclosed and there's a hot tub, which people seem to like. We allow up to two dogs.

The cottage has level access at the front, which is handy. Inside, there's a walk-in shower with grab rails. The kitchen has a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We've also got a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them.

You're properly in the countryside here. The area's part of the Galloway and Southern Ayrshire UNESCO Biosphere. There's good walking right from the door, and the river is known for fishing.

Girvan is about a 15-minute drive. It's a decent-sized town with shops and a leisure centre with a pool. You can get boat trips from the harbour out to Ailsa Craig.

The Ayrshire Coastal Path runs all through here. You can walk sections of it to see castles like Dunure or Turnberry. Culzean Castle, which is National Trust, is worth a visit too. It's about half an hour's drive. National Trust for Scotland: Culzean Castle.

Robert Burns stuff is all around this part of Ayrshire. Allowat, where his cottage is, is within 30 minutes. For a different day out, you can get the ferry from Ardrossan over to the Isle of Arran. That's about a 40-minute drive to the ferry terminal.
