This is Summer House. It's at our place in Radmoor, Shropshire. It's a glamping spot, so it's a proper building but it's got that off-grid feel. We built it ourselves.
It sleeps four, but there's only one bedroom with a kingsize bed. The sofa in the main room converts to a bed for two more. One bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-finished and comfortable.
The whole thing is built from larch and Douglas fir, and it sits right over the lake. You get a deck that wraps around the front. The main room has a vaulted ceiling and windows all around, so it's very light. Glass doors open straight onto the deck from both the living area and the bedroom. You're basically in the trees, looking out at the water.
There are other places to stay on the site, like a Geo Dome and a shepherd's hut, all set around the same lake. If you're booking as a group, you can take them all and fit up to fourteen people. There's a shared BBQ hut with a pizza oven and a bar area you can use.
The access path is gravelled. You have to walk your stuff the last bit from the car park, but we can bring your bags down for you with a buggy.
You can bring two dogs. Bedding and towels are included.
For supplies, Shawbury is about ten minutes by car. It has a supermarket, a bakery, and an organic farm shop. Shrewsbury is a twenty-minute drive. It's a good historic town to wander around, by the river. The Shropshire Hills AONB is right on the doorstep for walking, including The Wrekin. Ludlow, Bridgnorth, and the National Trust's Attingham Park are all within half an hour's drive.
