Courtyard Barn
Courtyard Barn is set in the grounds of Orchard View. Drive through the gates to your tranquil holiday retreat. The property has been fully renovated with air conditioning for the hot summer days and provides the ideal base to explore the area.
Downstairs is a modern kitchen well-equipped for rustling up a holiday breakfast or making a delicious evening meal. The family shower room is also found on the ground floor. The upstairs has the living/dining room, a great area to relax together after exploring the local area. There is a gorgeous bedroom with kingsize bed, as well as two sofa beds for comfortably sleeping six guests. There is a large swimming pool in the grounds and nearby is the bar and music room for possible guest use as well as gym and steam room, and all are available by prior arrangement with the owner.
Gallows Green is the ideal base to explore what Essex has to offer. Talliston House and Gardens, just 10 minutes away is Britain’s most extraordinary home, each room is set in a different time and place. For the gardeners amongst you, the Forgotten Gardens of Easton Lodge are only 5 miles away. If you fancy a treat then the Retreat Beauty and Holistic Spa offers an indulgent, restful and relaxing experience. The town of Great Dunmow has an array of independent shops, restaurants and pubs and is also home to The Comedy Club. Family fun can be had at the Great Notley Discovery Centre and Park, which has activities for both teenagers and toddlers, set in over 100 acres of open space there is a play trail with a climbing forest, lakes for fishing and areas for picnics.
For a day at the coast a trip to Mersea will not disappoint. Mersea gets cut off for about an hour when there is a very high tide, usually once a month, so it’s worthwhile checking the tides, all adding to the uniqueness and charm. It is a beautiful island with lots of coastal and nature walks, seafood restaurants with the famous Mersea oysters, delis, take aways and a supermarket. Why not visit Mersea Island vineyard and brewery where a beer festival is held at Easter and you can buy real ale, wines and even Mersea Island gin. The Mersea Regatta, which has been running since 1838, is held every August and should not be missed. If you are looking for a more traditional seaside town with amusements, rides and candyfloss then pop along to Southend on Sea or Great Yarmouth.
