Quay Cottage
This is Quay Cottage. It's in Cramond, which is part of Edinburgh but it feels a world away from the centre. It's right on the water, at the mouth of the River Forth.
The cottage sleeps four in two bedrooms. One double, one twin. There's one bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The main thing is the view out the back. It looks directly onto the old harbour. It's quiet. You can watch the boats. The living room has a gas fire for cool evenings.
There's a bistro at the bottom of the steps next to the cottage. A local cafe is a short walk along the shorefront. The beach is about a hundred yards away. It's pebbly and sand when the tide's out. Good for a paddle.
For bigger shops or a supermarket, you need to go about a mile to Davidsons Mains or Barnton.
Getting into Edinburgh city centre is straightforward. It's about five miles. You can drive, get a taxi, or there's a bus. It means you can do the city stuff, then come back to somewhere peaceful.
Facilities: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's no parking right at the cottage, but there's a public car park a very short walk away. No pets, sorry.
