The Coach House is in Ratho, about eight miles west of Edinburgh city centre. It's stone-built and detached, and it sits in our garden. We live in the main house next door. You get lots of privacy, but we're on hand if you need anything.
It sleeps four people. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is quite handy. It has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well looked after. The layout is upside-down: the living area and kitchen are upstairs to make the most of the view over the garden to the Union Canal. The stairs inside are normal.
You can see the canal from the terrace. It's peaceful. The garden is yours to use. We're on the edge of the village, so it feels rural but you can walk to the local pub in five minutes. There's a shop about half a mile away.
For getting around, you really need a car. Edinburgh is about a twenty minute drive, depending on traffic. Parking is easy here. The Pentland Hills are close by for walks. Glasgow, Fife, and the Borders are all within an hour or so for day trips.
Inside, it has a woodburning stove for colder evenings, and all the things you'd expect: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. You can bring up to two dogs.
