Located in the village of Farndon just 9 miles from the historical city of Chester is The Cottage at The Hare. On the same site as The Hare public house, it’s a charming detached Victorian workman’s cottage that offers beautifully traditional accommodation perfect for exploring both sides of the England/Wales borders. Downstairs you’ll find a good-sized open plan kitchen/dining room with original quarry tiled flooring and a wonderfully cosy living room complete with wood burner. There’s also a utility area with somewhere to wash your boots and walking gear after a day exploring the great outdoors. The stairs to the first floor are both steep and narrow reflecting the age of the property, and lead to two tastefully decorated en-suite bedrooms boasting kingsized Vi-Spring beds and good quality Egyptian cotton bed linen. Being set in the car park of The Hare means there’s no outside space and it may not be perfect for children, however the environment is pleasing all the same with lovely walks available along the River Dee. For any larger groups this property can also be booked together with Rock Cottage which is located just a few metres across the road, and is dog friendly, too.
Located on Farndon high street, the cottage is just a few minutes’ walk to the village amenities including a coffee shop, butchers and general store. For those that don’t want to cook, The Hare is just over the road and is open seven days a week. The Grade I listed bridge over the River Dee is also just a few minutes’ walk and is a medieval wonder linking Farndon to the Welsh village of Holt. You can visit Chester with its wealth of attractions including historical buildings, city walls, racecourse, shops, bars, restaurants and of course Chester Zoo.
Other cities within easy driving distance include Liverpool, Shrewsbury and Manchester, which can all be reached in under an hour. Over in Wales, the market town of Wrexham is just 6 miles away and there’s a bus service which links Wrexham to Chester via Farndon, should you wish to leave the car behind. For those who prefer the coast, the North Wales beaches of Rhyl, Prestatyn and Llandudno are all within an hour’s drive.
These properties can be booked together to accommodate up to 8 guests.
