South Riccalton Farm Cottage is on our farm near Edgerston. It's detached, about 400 yards from the main farmhouse. You're on your own out there. The views are good, just fields and hills.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's been done up well, it's comfortable. The bed is big, you can have it as one large bed or two singles, just let us know.
It's a working farm. You'll see us and the livestock going about. Sometimes there's tractor noise in the day, but it's quiet by evening.
Inside, there's a wood burner. We provide a basket of logs to start you off. There's a washing machine. The shower is a good size. WiFi works, but it's not super fast. That's the countryside for you. There's a hot tub on the patio.
The kitchen has what you need. There's a BBQ outside. You can park right next to the cottage.
You're about 20 minutes' drive from Jedburgh. There's a Co-op there, and a few places to eat. For a bigger shop, Hawick is about half an hour away.
For walking, you're right in the middle of it. The Southern Upland Way passes close by. The Pennine Way isn't far either. Walkscotland has some good local routes.
If you want to see historic sites, Jedburgh Abbey is good. There's also Melrose Abbey and Abbotsford House, which was Sir Walter Scott's place. All are within a 30 minute drive. Historic Environment Scotland has the details.
For fishing or riding, ask and I can point you to the local guys who run it.
Things to note: the cottage is all on one level, so no stairs. We can provide a cot. No pets, sorry. The lane up to the farm is single track, just take it slow.
