Rowan Cottage is on our sheep farm, up near the border in Byrness. It's one of three old shepherd's cottages we've done up. It's detached, single storey, so all on one level.
It sleeps five in three bedrooms. One bathroom with a power shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well looked after and comfortable. You can bring up to three dogs. We're in the Northumberland National Park, right next to Whitelee Fell. The view from the garden is just fields and hills.
Inside, there's a multi-fuel stove in an inglenook fireplace. It heats the place well. We've got a wildlife camera on the farm that feeds to the TV in the cottage. You might see badgers or barn owls.
The facilities are what you'd hope for. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if needed. Parking right outside. We've also put in an electric vehicle charger.
For shops or a pub, you'd drive to Otterburn or Jedburgh. Both are about fifteen minutes away.
You're well placed for getting out. Hadrian's Wall is a short drive. So is Kielder Forest for walking or the observatory. The coast, like Bamburgh or Lindisfarne, is under an hour. Alnwick Castle too. You can get to Newcastle or Edinburgh in about an hour and a half if you fancied a city day.
