Carnish Byre is on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. It's a detached, single-storey cottage that was a byre originally, so it's long and low. It's for two people.
It has a 5 Star rating. That means it's been finished to a high standard. Everything is new and works well. There's underfloor heating and a wood-burning stove. The bathroom has a copper roll-top bath and a separate walk-in shower. The bed is a king size.
The front looks south, straight over Uig Sands. It's a big, empty beach. You're about 100 yards from it. The view is the main thing. There's a patio with furniture out there to sit and look at it.
It's at the end of the road. The nearest shop and pub are in Uig, about three miles away. It's quiet. You'll see more sheep than people.
For walking, the Uig Hills are right behind you. The beach goes on for miles. The Hebridean Way long-distance path is on the island. The famous Callanish Stones are about a 25-minute drive. The Blackhouse Village at Arnol is about 40 minutes. Stornoway has supermarkets, a few restaurants, and the ferry terminal. That's 45 minutes by car.
You can drive to Harris in under an hour. The beaches at Luskentyre and Seilebost are there. The east coast of Harris is rocky and different.
You might see eagles over the hills. There are often seals on the sands. Otters are in the bay but they're shy.
Facilities: it has WiFi, a TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. The parking is right outside. The whole place is on one level and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. No pets.
