Uig Bay Cottage is near the beach at Cradhlastadh on Lewis. It’s detached, built in 2017, but finished to look like a traditional blackhouse from the outside. You have your own drive.
It’s for two people. One bedroom with an en-suite shower room, and there’s a separate main bathroom with a bath too. It’s a 4 Star place, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped.
The main room is a kitchen and living area together. There’s a wood burner. Patio doors lead out to a deck with a table. The view from there is the whole bay. The sands are right there, maybe a three-minute walk down. It’s a very good beach.
Inside, it’s done to a high standard. It’s warm, everything works, and it’s easy to keep clean. The WiFi is decent for being out here.
The deck is probably where you’ll spend your time if the weather’s even halfway reasonable. You can see the weather coming in from the Atlantic. It’s very quiet.
For getting out, you’re well placed for Lewis and Harris. The Callanish Standing Stones are about a 25-minute drive. The Blackhouse Village at Arnol is similar. If you want spectacular beaches, Luskentyre on Harris is under an hour away. The Butt of Lewis lighthouse is about 40 minutes north.
