Taigh Na Beadan

This is Taigh Na Beadan. It's in Uigen on the Isle of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides. The name means 'Welcome to the Big Man's House' in Gaelic. It's a detached cottage.

It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and two bathrooms. One of those bathrooms and a bedroom are on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The main thing is the view. There's a sunroom at the back that looks out over the loch. You can see seals sometimes. It's very quiet, just sheep and birds. The air is very clean.

You can fish, kayak or paddleboard on the loch right from the garden. The cottage is enclosed, so it's safe for dogs and kids. We take up to two dogs.

For a beach, you need to drive. The closest is about five miles, but there are several lovely ones within a half hour. The famous ones like Luskentyre are further, maybe an hour's drive. The coastline here is all good for walking.

Inside, it's got what you need. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. We include all the bedding and towels. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Parking is right outside.

If you're planning your trip, the Visit Scotland Outer Hebrides site is useful. For history, the Callanish Standing Stones are about a 40 minute drive.
