Carnish Lodge is in Carnais on the Isle of Lewis. It's a detached croft house. The main thing is the view. It's set back above Uig Bay, so you look straight out over the dunes and the beach. The light changes all day.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bedroom and a bathroom are on the ground floor. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well finished. It's not cluttered.
The garden is enclosed, which is good if you're bringing dogs. You get deer in the field most mornings. We see eagles from the windows regularly. If you're lucky, you might spot dolphins or whales from the beach.
The beach, Ardroil Sands, is a few minutes' walk. It's a huge stretch of white sand. You can walk for miles. The sea is that clear green colour. It's rarely busy.
There's a small shop, a cafe, a restaurant and a museum about ten minutes' drive away in Timsgarry. That's also where you can get fuel and charge an electric car. For a big supermarket, you need to go to Stornoway. That's about an hour's drive.
The Callanish Standing Stones are worth a visit. The Gearrannan Blackhouse Village is interesting too. The hills over in Harris are about half an hour away. The roads are single track, so you have to take your time.
Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking for two cars. You can bring up to two dogs.
Because it's so remote, the night sky is very dark. You can see the Milky Way. The northern lights show up over the bay sometimes in winter.
