The Drift House
The Drift House is on Hampton Heath, between Tilston and Malpas. It's a converted barn. Detached. We redid the whole place in 2022.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 5 Star rating, which is mainly because it's new, everything works, and it's very spacious. The upstairs is all open-plan, so it's not a quiet, separate room sort of layout. It's good for a group.
The garden is enclosed. There's patio furniture and a wood-fired hot tub out there. The view is over fields, quite far. Inside, there's underfloor heating and a wood burner. The kitchen has a range cooker and a big table. Bifold doors open onto the garden.
For facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and a cot and highchair if you need them. We have an electric vehicle charger. There's also secure bike storage.
You can bring dogs, up to three. The garden is secure.
Location wise, it's very rural. Malpas village has shops and a couple of pubs, about a five minute drive. For walking, the Sandstone Trail runs through the Bickerton and Peckforton Hills nearby. National Trust Cheshire has details on some of that.
Within half an hour you can get to Chester. The Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall is about 15 minutes away. Beeston Castle and Peckforton Castle are close. For mountain biking, Delamere Forest and Llandegla are within that range.
If you want to go further, Liverpool is about 45 minutes, Manchester about an hour. Oulton Park racing circuit is roughly half an hour.
