English Oak
This is English Oak. It's a new lodge we built ourselves in 2022, on our land near Toppesfield. It's open-plan inside, so it's all one big space. There's one bedroom area with a double bed and a sofa bed in the living bit, so it sleeps four. One bathroom with a shower.
It's got a 5 Star rating. That just means everything is new, clean and works properly. It's not a fancy hotel, it's a comfortable new lodge.
Outside is the main thing. There's a patio that gets the sun, a hot tub, a gas BBQ and a firepit. You can use the tennis court on the site, and there's a field for dogs or kids to run around. We live in the main hall nearby if you need anything.
The village pub is a short walk away. There's a village shop and a local brewery too. Finchingfield, with its big green and duck pond, is about a 12 minute drive. It's got a few pubs and cafes.
For days out, Castle Hedingham is very close. The English Heritage and National Trust sites are good for planning visits if you like that sort of thing. Braintree Freeport shopping is under half an hour away. If you want to go further, Cambridge is less than an hour. The coast at places like Mersea Island is about an hour's drive.
Facilities: everything's included - bedding, towels, WiFi, parking. There's an electric car charger. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
There are a few other lodges on the same six acres, so you might see other guests. If you need more space, you can book the lodge next door, Silver Birch, as well.
