Mac Shack Cottage is here in Ashen, Essex. It's part of an equestrian centre on the edge of the Stour Valley. The setting is rural, mostly fields.
It was an old stable that we renovated in 2020. It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. The rating is 5 Star, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable.
Downstairs is all open plan. Big windows look out over the fields. There's a corner sofa. The garden out front is enclosed, which is useful if you're bringing dogs. There's a BBQ and a decked area to sit out.
Because it's a former stable, there's a separate yard shower room. It's handy for washing off muddy boots or paws.
You can bring up to two dogs. There's also a cot and a highchair if you need them.
Facilities are all there: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, bedding and towels are included. There's parking and an electric vehicle charger.
The nearest pub and shops are in Clare, which is about three miles away. It's a nice old market town with places to eat. Clare Castle Country Park is there too, good for a walk.
For golf, there's a course at Clare. Fishing is available locally.
You're close to the Suffolk border here. Places like Long Melford, Lavenham, and Sudbury are within a twenty to thirty minute drive. They have a lot of historic buildings. For wider planning, the National Trust for Essex & Suffolk site is useful.
