Mac Shack Cottage
Mac Shack Cottage is in Ashen, Essex. It’s a converted stable block on an equestrian centre. You get the whole place to yourselves.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. The beds are large, you can have them as super king or twins. It got its 5 Star rating after a full renovation in 2020, so everything is new and works properly.
The main room is open plan. Big windows look out over the fields. There's a private garden at the front and a separate decked area with a firepit. There’s also an outdoor shower room, which is handy for cleaning muddy boots or dogs.
The local pub is in Clare, which is about three miles away. Clare’s a nice old market town. It has a few pubs, restaurants, and independent shops. Clare Castle Country Park is there, which is good for a walk or a picnic with kids.
For a day out, you can drive to Lavenham. It’s about half an hour. It’s full of medieval timber-framed buildings. The National Trust looks after the Guildhall there. You’re also not far from the Suffolk/Essex border, so Constable Country around Dedham Vale is within reach.
On the facilities side: there’s fibre Wi-Fi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can take up to two dogs. We have a cot and highchair if you need them.
