An T'abhall

This cottage is called An T'abhall. It's in Camus Inas, on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. That's the most westerly point of the UK mainland. The place looks right out over Loch Sunart.

It's a detached cottage, all on one level, though there are five steps up to the front door. It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed that can be separated into twins if you prefer. There's one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. We've just finished renovating it.

You're about a 200 yard walk from our own bit of rocky beach and a mooring if you've got a boat. The views from there are good. You'll often see dolphins and otters in the loch. There's a garage here for storing kayaks, bikes, that sort of thing.

Inside, it's warm. There's double glazing and central heating, plus an open fire. We leave you a supply of logs. We've tried to keep it comfortable and simple, with some older style decoration. It's got a dishwasher, washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot, highchair, and stairgate. One well-behaved dog is welcome.

The local area is quiet. There's a post office and a couple of small shops. A fish van comes every Tuesday with fresh lobster and langoustines. You can get local venison and vegetables too. For a bigger shop, you can order a supermarket delivery from Fort William to come here. We'll leave you some basic things like bread and milk when you arrive.

If you want to go out, you're in a good spot for it. There are hill walks and loch-side walks right from the door. For a famous sight, Castle Tioram is a beautiful ruin not too far away. You can drive to pubs, some award-winning restaurants, a distillery, and a smokehouse. The food here is good, mostly local seafood and game.

A bit further down the peninsula is the Ardnamurchan Distillery. At the very tip is the Ardnamurchan Lighthouse. From Kilchoan you can get the ferry over to the Isle of Mull to visit Tobermory.

For a bigger day out, Glen Coe and Ben Nevis are within an hour or so by car. Fort William is your main town for supplies.
