Rowan House

Rowan House is a detached bungalow on the Ardnamurchan Peninsula. It’s on the edge of Loch Sunart, up a shared gravel lane. The views from the front rooms are over the loch. Behind the house, you’re looking at hills. There’s a spring in the garden.

It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms. It’s got a 3 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and clean but not luxury. It's mostly on one level, so it works well if stairs are a problem.

You should know there’s no direct access to the loch from the garden. To get down to the water, you walk a short way along the bay. We’ve left notes in the house about the best spots.

The local shop and pub are in Acharacle, about a three mile drive. They’re fine for basics and a meal. For a bigger shop, Fort William is about an hour away.

If you’re into wildlife, this is a good spot. We’ve seen otters and eagles. The RSPB reserve at Glenborrodale is close. The Ardnamurchan Natural History Centre is worth a visit. The Point lighthouse and the beaches at Sanna Bay are a drive, but it's a spectacular one.

You can catch a ferry to Mull from Salen. The small port at Kilchoan has a car ferry to Tobermory as well. Mallaig is about an hour’s drive for ferries to the other islands.

The house has a woodburning stove, Wi-Fi, a washing machine, a dishwasher and parking. We can take one dog. Bedding and towels are included.
