Shielside is a house on the edge of Acharacle, next to Loch Shiel. It's on a quiet road with fields out the back. You'll have the whole garden to yourselves, and it's fully fenced.
It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. Each room has its own bathroom attached, which is handy. Two of the bedrooms are particularly big.
The house has a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped, not overly fancy. The kitchen has what you need. There's a woodburner for cooler nights and a BBQ outside.
Acharacle has basics: a village shop, a pub that does food, a garage, and a cafe. It's a good spot for getting out on the water or for walks. The road from Fort William is single-track for most of the way, just so you know. It's a scenic drive, but it takes about an hour and a half.
From here, you're well placed for Ardnamurchan Point, which is the most westerly point on the British mainland. Glenfinnan, with its viaduct and monument, is about half an hour away. Fort William is farther, but if you go, the West Highland Way and Ben Nevis are there. Mallaig is a similar drive in the other direction.
The house has parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can take up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if needed.
For planning days out, the NatureScot site has information on the National Scenic Area, and VisitScotland covers the wider region.
