Stable Lodge is in Gattonside, over the river from Melrose. It's a two bedroom cottage that sleeps five. The rooms are bigger than you'd expect from the outside, which is handy.
There's one proper bathroom with a walk in shower downstairs, and a separate toilet upstairs on the landing. The stairs are fine, normal for this sort of place.
It's decorated nicely. There's some old panelling and antique furniture, mixed with normal sofas and some paintings by local artists. The living room has a wood burning stove and a Smart TV. The kitchen has what you need: dishwasher, washing machine, fridge freezer. It's all open plan so you're not shut away.
Outside, it's in a quiet stable courtyard. There's parking right outside.
You can walk into Melrose in about fifteen minutes, across the footbridge over the Tweed. The village has a shop, cafes, and places to eat. There are also two good restaurants in Gattonside itself, literally two minutes walk away.
It's a good spot for walking. You've got the river, and the Eildon Hills are right there. For fishing or golf, it's all very local. The train station at Tweedbank isn't far if you fancy a day trip to Edinburgh without driving.
Melrose has the abbey ruins, which are worth seeing. Historic Environment Scotland has the details. For wider plans, Visit Scotland is useful.
Facilities wise: all bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. WiFi. No pets, sorry.
