Lower Canterbury House

This is Lower Canterbury House in Gattonside. It's a one-bedroom cottage for two people. We finished renovating it in 2020, so everything is new. It has a 5 Star rating, which basically means it's well-equipped and finished to a high standard.

You come in through a small hall. The main living space is open plan. There's a kitchen, a dining area, and a lounge all together. The floor is bamboo. The kitchen has everything you'd need, including a dishwasher. The sofa is comfortable. There's a separate utility room with a washing machine.

The bedroom has a king-size bed. The bathroom is quite smart. It has both a walk-in shower and a free-standing bath.

Outside, there's private parking right by the cottage. The garden is just across the lane. It's south-facing, mature, and lawned. There's also a summerhouse you can use and a locked shed for storing bikes.

Gattonside is quiet. You can walk into Melrose in about 15 minutes. It's a nice town on the River Tweed. There are a couple of restaurants just a minute's walk from the cottage here in the village.

If you're here for history, Melrose Abbey is right there. Abbotsford, Sir Walter Scott's house, is very close. The Eildon Hills are good for a walk. For gardens, there's Priorwood Garden run by the National Trust for Scotland.

The wider Scottish Borders are good for cycling and fishing. Edinburgh is about an hour's drive if you want a day in the city.

The facilities are all listed, but to cover the main points: WiFi, bedding, towels, and electricity are included. There's on-site parking. No pets, I'm afraid.
