Hilbre Strachur

This is Hilbre. It's a detached lodge in Strachur on Loch Fyne. The view from here is over the loch, which is nice. You get that from the living room and from the decking outside.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom. The standard is high, it's got the 5 Star grading. It's a comfortable place. Everything's included: bedding, towels, wifi, the utilities.

You've got a private hot tub on the deck. It looks out over the water. There's parking right here.

For facilities, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, a woodburning stove for cooler nights. We can provide a cot and a highchair. Pets are welcome, up to two.

The village is handy. There's a shop, post office and a cafe just across the road. The pub is a short walk. If the tide's in, you can walk along the beach. If it's out, you go round by the road. It only takes a few minutes.

You're right on the loch for getting out on the water. People bring kayaks or paddleboards. The fishing is good. There are spots for wild swimming just across the road.

Inveraray is about half an hour away. You've got the castle and the old jail there. The town of Dunoon is about twenty minutes drive for bigger shops or the cinema. You can get the ferry from nearby Colintraive over to the Isle of Bute. Mount Stuart house there is worth seeing.

The area is part of the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. There are forests right here with walking and cycling tracks. For gardens, Benmore Botanic Garden is within a thirty minute drive, with the avenue of redwoods.
