Mill Cottage

Mill Cottage is on my family's farm in Peterchurch. It's a 17th century building, detached. We've done it up but kept the old bits.

It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms which helps. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not just a box to sleep in.

The cottage looks out over an old hay meadow. There's a stream at the bottom of the garden, with a fence along it. It's quiet. You'll hear the sheep.

You get here down our farm lane. It's about a third of a mile long, stone and shared with us. The lane is fine for normal cars. You've got your own parking.

Inside, it's open plan downstairs. There's a woodburning stove. The stairs are the main thing to know about. They're the original ones, so they're steep and a bit narrow in places. There's a stairgate at the top.

For facilities: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. Garden is enclosed. Sorry, no pets.

The village is about a mile away. There's a shop, a pub that does food, and a doctor's surgery.

If you like walking, it's good here. You can start from the door. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are close. National Trust Herefordshire has ideas, and so does Brecon Beacons National Park.

Hay-on-Wye is about ten miles. That's the book town. Hereford is twelve miles, for the cathedral and the Mappa Mundi. Abergavenny is twenty miles, good for food. All within half an hour.
