Hockwold Hall
Hockwold Hall is a Tudor mansion near Downham Market, in Norfolk. It sleeps twenty six. Nine bedrooms, eight bathrooms. It's a five star property, so it's done to a high standard.
The main thing is it's huge. You get fifty private acres around it. There's a floodlit tennis court, a croquet lawn, a hot tub, a sauna, and a summer house. Inside, there's a cellar bar done up like a 1920s place, a gym, and a large kitchen. Almost every bedroom has its own bathroom.
The owners live on site in a separate place, so they're there if you need anything but won't intrude. The stairs are original in parts, so they're not all uniform. The drive is long and gravel.
There's a local shop half a mile away. A pub and restaurant are about 300 yards down the lane. For fishing, you can arrange something nearby.
It's about half an hour's drive to the coast at places like Heacham or Hunstanton. If you're into history, Castle Acre Priory and Oxburgh Hall are both within easy reach. For a bigger day out, Norwich or Cambridge are under an hour away.
Facilities: all the things you'd expect, like bedding, towels, wifi, washing machines. There's on site parking for plenty of cars. No pets, sorry.
