Halfmoon Wood is on our farm in Caunton. It's a modern pine lodge, set by itself at the edge of some private woodland. You're down a farm track, so it's quiet. The stars are good on a clear night.
It sleeps six. There are two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's open plan, so everyone's together downstairs.
The patio looks out over fields. You might see hares or deer. There's a pub in Caunton village, about a ten-minute walk down the lane. They do food.
We run the farm here. You can book a tractor trailer ride through the private woods to the local microbrewery, Winkburn Beermats. My son Charles does farm tours too, if you're interested in that sort of thing.
Southwell is ten minutes away by car. It's a nice little town with a famous minster, shops, and cafes. Newark-on-Trent is about seven miles. It's a proper market town with a castle and river.
For days out, Sherwood Forest is about twenty minutes. Clumber Park is similar. Rufford Abbey and Newstead Abbey are close too. For something different, Creswell Crags is an ice-age gorge with caves. It's about half an hour.
Lincoln and Nottingham are both roughly thirty minutes by car. You can get the train from Newark as well.
The lodge has a dishwasher, TV, WiFi, and parking. All bedding and towels are included. There's a shower, no bath. No pets, I'm afraid.
You can book it together with the lodge next door, Dukes Wood, if you've got a bigger group.
