Cronkhill Farmhouse

Cronkhill Farmhouse is in Cross Houses, just south of Shrewsbury. It's a big, old timber frame house that sleeps fourteen people. Six bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.

The house is on the edge of the National Trust's Attingham Park estate. You look out over fields towards the River Severn and the Wrekin. The views are good. There's a walled garden that gets the sun, and an old brick apple store.

It was remodelled by John Nash, so it's a listed building. That means the floors can be uneven in places and the ceilings are low in some rooms. There are beams and quarry tiles. It feels like a farmhouse, not a show home. The fireplace works.

You can bring two dogs. There's parking, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and Wi-Fi. Bedding and towels are included. We have a cot and a highchair if you need them.

There's a shop and a post office, and a country pub, all about half a mile away. Attingham Park itself is a mile up the road. Good for walks, and the mansion is worth a look.

Shrewsbury is three miles north for shops and restaurants. South you've got the Shropshire Hills. Ironbridge is about eight miles east. Ironbridge Gorge is a World Heritage site with all the museums. You can get to Ludlow, or the ruins at Wroxeter and the abbeys, within half an hour.
