Lode Hall is in Lode, near Lot's Bridge in Norfolk. It's a detached hall, parts of which are from the 1600s. It's been in my family a long time.
It sleeps eighteen people. Nine bedrooms, five bathrooms. Plus a loo on the ground floor. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s a big, old house, so it's full of character but it has the things you need too. There are three sitting rooms and a formal dining room downstairs, all with wooden floors and open fires. The stairs are fine, but it’s an old property so there are a few steps and different levels to be aware of.
There’s a self-contained flat on the second floor with a kitchenette and another sitting room. It’s useful if some of your group want a bit of space.
Outside, there’s a private patio area, a large lawned garden, and a hot tub that fits six. We allow two well-behaved dogs.
For facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, a dishwasher, a travel cot and a highchair. Bedding and towels are included. You can hire adult bathrobes if you want, just ask us. It's got a woodburning stove, you’ll need to buy logs locally. There’s a BBQ and bike storage too.
The local shop is about a mile and a half away. The nearest pub serving food is four miles.
If you want to go out, you’ve got options. Cambridge is about half an hour’s drive. You can go punting on the Cam or visit the Fitzwilliam Museum. The Imperial War Museum at Duxford is nearby too. Ely is closer, about twenty minutes. The cathedral is the main thing to see there.
For birdwatching, the WWT Welney Wetland Centre is good. The Norfolk coast is within an hour’s drive. For history, Sandringham Estate is under an hour away. Norwich and King's Lynn are both about forty-five minutes by car.
