Sealladh na Loch is the Gaelic for View of the lake. The property has a wonderful view out across Loch Mealt, which is actually rather unique because it’s the only lake in Europe that has just Arctic Char in it and not Brown Trout. However, that’s not the truly unique aspect of Sealladh na Loch that will excite the majority. It’s the view beyond the lake that excites, because out of the front you can see The Old Man of Storr, and out the back you have a view of The Quiraing. And you can see right along the most dramatic part of the Trotternish Ridge from the property. It’s an awesome location, and a very rare opportunity to stay somewhere with such incredible views.
The journey to Sealladh na Loch is a special one. Situated in the far north of Skye, you have outstanding scenery to explore on your drive to the property. Over the sea to Skye you drive round the Cuillin Hills which on a clear day you can actually see from Sealladh na Loch . You enjoy sea views pretty much all the way up the island to Portree, a charming little capital town with picturesque and colourful harbour. The minor road north of Portree is yours and the route follows the Trotternish landslip which created all of the amazing rock formations the island is known for. The Old Man of Storr is your first waymark, and you’re close to it staying at Sealladh na Loch so you can beat the crowds during your visit. Pass Brothers’ Point, Lealt Falls and Kilt Rock to reach your turning. Arriving, you’ll be so happy with your choice. It’s a truly outstanding location.
The holiday home is a lovely place too. Finished to a good standard, the accommodation in the detached bungalow is spacious and comfortable. There are three bedrooms, a master double with en-suite facilities, another double and a twin. All bedrooms have views of the Quiraing. The living room has an enormous Smart TV, a wood burner and views south across the loch towards The Old Man of Storr. The Cuillins are visible on a clear day too! The kitchen is open-plan with the dining area, and again amazing views to the south. There’s also a spacious family bathroom. Outside of the property there’s a gorgeous wrap-around garden that has multiple seating areas. There’s also a lovely pond out the back.
Sealladh na Loch is a perfect choice for a holiday on Skye. Trotternish is an amazing base, you won’t have to leave the peninsula as there’s so much to see. In addition to places already mentioned, Duntulm Castle, the Fairy Glen and Uig are all close by and worth visting. Walks are plentiful and the owner has a selection of off-the-beaten trails that they recommend for guests. A truly brilliant holiday home on Skye that you will enjoy immensely.
