After a spectacular drive through the Torridon mountains prepare to be amazed at the tranquil view as you catch your first glance of Upper Diabaig Farmhouse. Set in several hundred acres of native Scottish woodland, peat and heather, with lochs and streams at every turn, all for you to explore at your leisure.
The house itself looks onto a freshwater loch and is also perfect for paddleboarding, kayaking, wild swimming or even just a paddle.
We have an abundance of native wildlife at Upper Diabaig, golden eagles, red deer and owls can be seen from your window. In the area there are also otters, red squirrels, foxes and pine martens are never far away. A short walk will take you down to the sea where we have regular visits from Porpoise and Dolphins in the bay.
Although remote, there are plenty of activities and sights to see in the surrounding area. In the village of Lower Diabaig there is a restaurant and bar, 9 miles back to Torridon you will find a well-stocked shop, several cafes, a gallery showcasing wares from many local artists and the National Trusts Torridon Countryside Centre. An hour’s drive North will take you to Gairloch where you can go whale watching or head east to explore the spectacular sights of the Applecross Peninsula and all its delights on offer. A mobile butcher van visits the area every week as well as a fish van and several large supermarkets provide a delivery service to the nearby village of Torridon so you never need to be without your favourite supplies.
If climbing is your passion there is an abundance of hikes and climbs to choose from in Wester Ross and the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve on the southern shores of Loch Maree is a short drive away, an opportunity to do some serious munro-bagging.
The house itself has everything you need to make yourself at home. The outer porch is a great place to kick of your boots after a day of exploring. This leads you into the inner porch with shower room off it. There is a very well-equipped kitchen for all your catering requirements, the kitchen has a table to seat eight for a leisurely breakfast while you plan your day ahead. Directly off the kitchen there is a snug room with TV and a sofa bed. There is also a kingsize bedroom with en-suite. Adjacent you will find the formal dining room with a fantastic view across the Loch. Finally on the ground floor you will find the living room with log burning stove, comfortable seating and a desk and chair with yet another view to enjoy whilst you catch up on your emails.
Upstairs you will find two comfortable twin bedrooms both with sinks and a spacious wet room with underfloor heating and waterfall shower.
