Rallidae is a well-appointed holiday property located in the busy little ferry port of Uig. Just yards from the bay, you can enjoy watching the changing seascape, the local fishermen bringing in their catch and the daily ferry taking trips to the Outer Isles. You can take day trips on the ferry over to Harris, and local boat trips puffin and whale spotting and to St. Kilda. Day trips to Harris are available from May to September, Mondays and Saturdays. There are signposted Woodland Trust walks in the area and the Fairy Glen is a popular local spot to visit and is within walking distance from house or around a 5 minute drive away. The Quiraing and Old Man of Storr are both within a 15 minute drive from the house. The property is very central to all amenities including Uig hotel, local pub, restaurants, post office and well stocked local shop. The Uig pottery, petrol station, café, Isle of Skye brewery and local bar are close by the Pier.
The dramatic landscape of the Quiraing is popular for hillwalking. The Old Man of Storr, Staffin beach and the Staffin Dinosaur Museum, which contains a collection of local geological and fossil specimens, make great days out. The area is linked to the historic and romantic legend of Bonnie Prince Charlie and Flora MacDonald, who is buried in Kilmuir Cemetery beside the Museum of Island Life. The Whitewave Activity Centre offer a range of activities including kayaking, archery, abseiling and mountain climbing, and is a short distance away from Rallidae.
There is so much to discover throughout the island including historic sites, castles, brochs, whisky distilleries, boat trips and pony trekking.
