The Grain Store
The Grain Store is ours. It's near East Croachy, up in the Highlands. It's a converted farm building we finished in 2021. It's up on a bit of a rise, looking out over Loch Ruthven.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, with underfloor heating and a wood burner. The main view is over the loch, which is an RSPB nature reserve. You see deer and birds like red kites from the window. It's very quiet.
The area feels quite remote, but Inverness is only about 25 minutes' drive south if you need a supermarket or want to go to the cinema. From there, you're well placed for the North Coast 500 route. To the north, you've got Loch Ness about 20 minutes away. The south side is quieter than the main road on the north shore.
To the south, you're looking at the Monadhliath hills. They're proper walking country, leading into the Cairngorms National Park, which is about a 45 minute drive. There's skiing there in winter, and the reindeer herd at Glenmore.
As for the cottage itself, it's all on one level except for one step down into the living area. There's a telescope because it's a dark sky area. The wifi is okay for browsing. We've got a washing machine, dishwasher, and an electric vehicle charger. Bedding and towels are included. We take up to two dogs.
