The Grain Store is in East Croachy, up in the Highlands. It's about 25 minutes drive south-west of Inverness. The cottage used to be a grain store for the farm, but we renovated it a few years ago.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. You can bring two dogs.
The main thing is the view. It's up high, looking straight out over Loch Ruthven. That's an RSPB nature reserve. You'll see grebes on the water, and red kites or buzzards overhead. Stac Gorm, the hill across the loch, is right there. It's a good walk if you're feeling energetic.
Inside, it's straightforward. Wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine. There's an electric vehicle charger. The stairs up to the bedrooms are a bit steep, just so you know. The area has dark skies, so we've left a telescope there.
You're well placed for getting out. Loch Ness is about 20 minutes north. The southern shore is quieter. Inverness is your nearest big town for shops and things. If you want mountains, the Cairngorms are maybe 45 minutes to an hour south-east. The Cairngorms National Park website has good info.
There's a local shop about six or seven miles away in Farr. For a proper supermarket, you'd go into Inverness.
Facilities are all included: bedding, towels, WiFi, parking. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.
