Fox Lodge

Fox Lodge is a couple of miles from Fenton, right out in the fields. It's on a working farm, so you'll see tractors going past sometimes. The owner lives on site if you need anything.

It's a semi-detached lodge, one of four. They're set around a large private fishing lake. Your patio looks straight out onto the water. The views are all sky and fields. It's very quiet.

It's for four people. Two bedrooms, one shower room. Everything's on the ground floor. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped. There's a smart TV and you can walk straight out from the living area onto your patio.

The access track is rough. It's farm land, so it's stony and uneven. Take it steady in a low car.

If you fish, you've got your own platform right in front and access to the specimen lake. Carp go up to about 28lbs. There's a café and tackle shop on the farm.

There's a pub and a village shop about two miles away in Pidley. St Ives is five miles. It's a nice old market town on the river, with decent places to eat and shop.

Cambridge is about a 30 minute drive. You can get the guided bus from St Ives if you don't want to drive in. The university colleges and the Fitzwilliam Museum are worth seeing. Punting on the Cam is the classic thing to do.

For walks, the area is flat with lots of footpaths and bridleways. There's a wetland conservation spot on the farm for birdwatching. The RSPB's Ouse Washes are about half an hour's drive if you're keen.

The facilities are what you'd expect: bedding and towels are included, there's parking, and WiFi. One well-behaved dog is allowed. It's all wheelchair accessible.
