Hendre Barn Mawr is a detached barn conversion on the edge of Abergynolwyn. The village sits between Tywyn on the coast and Dolgellau. It's quiet here.
The barn sleeps eight in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one of which is a wet room on the ground floor. It has a 5 Star rating, so it's well equipped and comfortable. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.
There's an enclosed garden with a patio, which is useful with dogs or children. Inside, there's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. The kitchen has a dishwasher and there's a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included.
The local pub is about five minutes walk. It serves food. For shops and more options, Tywyn is a short drive west. It has a beach and the Talyllyn Narrow Gauge Railway starts there. Dolgellau, to the east, is a good market town.
You're right at the foot of Cader Idris here. The mountain walks start very close by. For a gentler time, Tal-y-llyn lake is just up the road. The area is good for cycling at Coed-y-Brenin Forest Park, and the coast around Aberdovey is about twenty minutes away by car.
Further afield, you can drive to Portmeirion or into the heart of Snowdonia within half an hour. Useful links for planning: Snowdonia National Park Authority and National Trust Snowdonia and Llŷn.
