Brookside Cottage is in Forton, just off the A6. It’s a detached cottage, so you’re not sharing walls with anyone. The garden is enclosed. There’s a little brook that runs along the edge of it.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable, not particularly modern. The main living room has a woodburning stove.
There’s a pub about 400 yards down the road. They do food and it’s well thought of. The nearest shop is in Scorton, about a mile and a half away.
You can walk to the Lancaster Canal in about ten minutes. It’s good for a flat walk or a cycle. You can hire day boats from there too. The Forest of Bowland starts just the other side of Scorton. Good for walks. You can drive through the Trough of Bowland from there.
Garstang is three miles. It’s a market town with a Thursday market, decent butchers, cafes, that sort of thing. Lancaster is about eight miles for a bigger supermarket or if you want to look around the castle.
The South Lakes, like Windermere, are about 40 minutes in the car if you don’t hit traffic. Blackpool is about half an hour the other way, if you fancy the Pleasure Beach or the sea air.
Facilities: it has the things you’d expect – WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Towels and bedding are included. There’s parking on the drive. You can bring up to two dogs.
