Horncombe Stables is an apartment on the first floor, above what were the old stables. It's part of the Horncombe estate, which is a 14th-century hunting lodge. You get your own bit of garden with a summerhouse. The garden's enclosed, so it's fine for a dog.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both with their own bathrooms. So no arguing over the shower. It's a 4 Star, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The stairs. They're open-tread and a bit steep. They lead up from your own private entrance.
You're at the end of a long drive, looking out over fields and woods. Deer come through quite often. Footpaths start right from the property and go through about 50 acres of the estate's woodland. It's very quiet.
The nearest shop and pub are about a mile away in Highbrook. For bigger shops, Haywards Heath is a ten-minute drive.
If you're coming for an event, the South of England Showground is just down the road in Ardingly. That's where the antiques fair and other shows are.
Good places to visit nearby: Wakehurst (that's Kew's country garden) is about ten minutes by car. The Bluebell Railway is a steam train line, maybe a 20-minute drive. Ardingly Reservoir is close for walking and fishing. Ashdown Forest is a bit further, maybe 25 minutes. That's the Winnie-the-Pooh forest.
Things here: parking right outside, WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
