Quail Cottage is in Staplefield, West Sussex. It's a self-contained place for two people.
It was originally a stable, then a garage for two Rolls Royce cars. Now it's a cottage. It’s got one bedroom with a super king-size bed. That's two singles zipped together, but we make it up as a double unless you ask for twins. The bathroom has a bath and a separate shower cubicle.
The main room has a high vaulted ceiling with old timbers. Big doors fold back. The washing machine and tumble dryer are in the glazed porch you come in through.
It’s a 4 Star place. That means it’s comfortable and well finished, not just basic. Underfloor heating, so it's warm in winter. Outside there’s a terrace with a BBQ, in the dappled shade of the garden.
We run a working farm here with a flock of rare breed sheep in the fields next door. Because of the sheep and some ponds on the property, we don’t allow pets. It's also not suitable for young children under ten.
Farming is busiest during lambing season and haymaking in mid-summer. Just so you know.
The local shop and pub are about two miles away in Cuckfield. There’s a restaurant three miles off.
For walks, you can step straight out onto footpaths. The Sussex Ouse Valley Way long-distance path passes close by. Nymans and Wakehurst Place are gardens within a 15-20 minute drive. Ardingly Reservoir is nearby for walks or water sports.
Haywards Heath train station isn't far if you fancied a day trip to London. Brighton and the South Downs are about half an hour’s drive. The Bluebell Railway is also within half an hour for steam train trips.
What’s here: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, cot, bedding and towels, parking. There's a golf course locally too.
