Quail Cottage

Quail Cottage is in Staplefield on our farm. It's what we call the Sussex Weald. It used to be a stable, then a garage for cars. Now it's a cottage for two.

It's got one bedroom with a big bed. That bed can be two singles if you ask when you book. There's one bathroom with both a bath and a separate shower. It's a 4 Star place, which means it's comfortable and we've kept it in good order.

The main room is big, with high ceilings and old timbers. There's a full glass door that opens to the terrace. The kitchen is a galley style, small but it has everything. The washing machine and tumble dryer are in the porch you come through.

Outside, there's a terrace in the garden. It's shaded by trees, good for sitting out. There's a barbecue there too.

A few things to know. It's a working farm. Lambing season and haymaking in summer are the busy, noisy times. We've got sheep in the fields next to the cottage, so we can't have pets. There are ponds quite close, so it's not suitable for young children.

The location is good for walks. Footpaths start right from here. The Sussex Weald area is all around. For a day out, Borde Hill Gardens is about three miles away. Ardingly Reservoir is a bit further north, you can walk or go sailing there. Nymans and Wakehurst Place are both within twenty minutes by car.

You're about half an hour's drive from Brighton and the south coast. Haywards Heath train station isn't far if you wanted to get to London. The Bluebell Railway is also close for a steam train trip.

In terms of what's here: there's parking, WiFi, a TV, all the bedding and towels, and a cot if you need it. The nearest shop and pub are two miles away in Cuckfield. The village is nice.
