The Long House is in Middle Aston, which is a small hamlet a mile from Steeple Aston. The house is detached and sleeps eight people. There are four bedrooms and three bathrooms. Two of the bedrooms are downstairs, one with an ensuite. The other two bedrooms are upstairs, again one with an ensuite. That’s useful if you've got older family or anyone who struggles with stairs.
It’s got a 4 Star rating. That means it’s well-equipped and comfortable. It’s not a show home, it’s a family house.
The living room is big with windows at both ends. It looks out over the fields at the back. The kitchen door goes straight out into the garden. The garden is enclosed, which is good for dogs and kids. There’s a bit of a hidden seating area at the bottom, past the lawn.
Steeple Aston village is a mile away. It’s got a pub, a shop, and a post office. The pub serves food.
You’re about eight miles from Bicester Village if you want to go shopping. Blenheim Palace is a similar distance. They run events all year, like concerts and Christmas shows. The Blenheim Palace website has the details.
You’re near the edge of the Cotswolds, so there are plenty of nice drives and villages to visit. Oxford is about a twenty-minute drive. It’s worth a trip to see the university buildings.
For walks, you’re in the Cherwell Valley. There are plenty of public footpaths. The Cotswolds National Landscape site has good information for the area.
Facilities: it’s got everything on the list. The wood burner works. There’s a BBQ, a dishwasher, a washing machine, WiFi, parking for a few cars. Bedding and towels are included. We allow two well-behaved dogs. There’s a highchair if you need one.
