Dunyvaig is a bungalow on the shore just outside Colintraive. It's detached, so it's just you and the garden. The garden is full of shrubs and trees, so it feels private even though you're near the road.
The big windows look straight out onto the Kyles of Bute. You spend a lot of time watching the boats go up and down. It's very peaceful.
It sleeps six in four bedrooms. There's a double, a twin that can be made into a double, and two singles. Two shower rooms. One's by the front door, off the utility room, which is handy if you've been out walking or fishing.
Inside, it's straightforward. Well equipped kitchen, separate dining room, and a living room with a woodburning stove. Everything's included, bedding, towels, electricity.
The local shop and pub are about half a mile back up the road in the village. The pub does food. For a big shop, you'd drive to Tighnabruaich or over to the Isle of Bute.
To get to Bute, you take the Colintraive ferry. It's less than two minutes across to Rhubodach, and then it's about a ten minute drive into Rothesay. It's a good day out.
Turn the other way and drive along the coast, and you're in Tighnabruaich in about half an hour. There's a famous view point on that road, well worth stopping at.
Another thirty minutes past that is Portavadie. The marina there has a spa and a restaurant. You can also get the ferry from there over to Tarbert in Argyll.
The area is good for walking, cycling and birdwatching. The coast is right there. You can bring one well-behaved dog.
