Stronafian House

Stronafian House is near Colintraive, which is on that bit of land between Loch Fyne and the Kyles of Bute. It's a detached house, quite secluded, with its own land around it. It sleeps eight, with four bedrooms and four bathrooms. It's a Four Star property, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.

The main living area is open plan: kitchen, dining, and sitting room all together, with a wood burner. There's a big conservatory on the front with another wood burner and a larger dining table. You get good views of the garden and the woods from there.

There's no live television. There is a TV and a DVD player with a lot of DVDs. For other entertainment, there's a pool table and table football, plus some board games and toys.

The place is set up for people interested in fishing or stalking. It has fishing rights on a beat of the River Ruel for salmon and sea trout. You can arrange red or roe deer stalking locally. We can send you more details on how to book that if you're interested.

You'll often see roe deer from the house. Otters are common along the coast. Birds like osprey and eagles are seen around nearby Loch Riddon.

Colintraive village is about six miles away. It has a shop, a post office, a restaurant, and a pub. There's also a car ferry there that goes over to the Isle of Bute in just a few minutes. Dunoon is about twelve miles away for more shops and cafes. It's where the Cowal Highland Gathering is held.

For walking, the Cowal Way long-distance path goes right past the area. The coastline here, the Kyles of Bute, is good for kayaking or sailing. The nearest beach is about eight miles.

In terms of facilities, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, enclosed garden, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. Highchair and stairgate are there if needed. No pets, sorry.

If you're planning trips, the Benmore Botanic Garden near Dunoon is worth a visit. For wider information, Wild About Argyll is a good site.
